ABSTRACT
Based on the concept defined as “exit from the realities of the literary text” in the article, the prose of J.Mammadguluzadeh is evaluated in a new direction through the example of “Danabash kendinin ehvalatlari” and “Pocht qutusu”. The class approach derived from the Soviet methodology to the heroes of Mirza Jalil is rejected. The writer’s ideological position is sought not in turning into an object of the description of the ignorance of the Azerbaijani peasantry, but in the critical attitude of the colonial regime to the essence of the system of governance in the Azerbaijani village. In the “Danabash kendinin ehvalatlari”, the images of Uncle Mahammad Hasan and Zeynab are described as images of 19th-century Azerbaijani citizens who think rationally, and evaluate the social situation, but are forced to retreat in the face of the regime’s violent policy. The image of Novruzali in the story “Pocht qutusu” is considered not as a carrier of “slave psychology” but as a hero who noticed social injustice and opposed it.
