ABSTRACT
General education institutions always focus on the formation of students' writing skills as an actual issue. From the first to the eleventh grade, students are writing different writing samples in one form or another every day. Despite being carried out in the unity of written and oral speech, schoolchildren's skills in this field are weakening daily. Teachers attribute declining students writing skills due to several reasons. Especially the widespread use of computers and mobile phones is one of the main reasons attributed to this. According to the order of the Minister of Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan No. F-455 dated September 24, 2021, in order to eliminate the shortcomings in this field and to chronicle the victory won in the Civil War in writing, it was planned to hold a "The way of victory" essay competition among students of secondary schools. In the article the purpose of the competition was discussed, the evaluation criteria and results of the essays were presented, as well as the importance of student writing, requirements for writing in literature classes, and ways of forming students' writing skills.
