“Alp Er Tonga” epic in scientific research

ABSTRACT
The common values of the Turkic world are of great importance for every Turkish people. In this sense, the culture and literature of the Turkic peoples is a separate branch of world culture and literature. The Turks are a people who have fully confirmed their greatness and leadership among the peoples of the world in terms of the antiquity and richness of their history and culture. The study discusses the history of the study of the epos of the same name, which tells about the first legendary-historical hero of the Turks, his great-grandfather Alp er Tonga. Alp Er Tonga, the first Turkic and Turanian ruler, first became famous in the Iran-Turan wars in the 7th century. Researchers H.Koroglu, E.Alibeyzade, F.Agasioglu, F.Sumer, I.Artuk, V.Minorski and G.Rabinot were involved in the research of the saga. Mahmud Kashgari's "Divan" was an important reference point in the study of the "Alp Er Tonga" epos. The Divan contains numerous examples of poems dedicated to the death of Alp Er Tonga ‒ laments.
