ABSTRACT

Symbols of astral folklore, especially celestial bodies, are widely used in Eastern literature. This saga, which is a great Turkish folk tale, is published under the names "Zohra and Tahir", "Tahir Mirza", "Zuhra-Tahir", "Taj-Zohra" and others. The theme of Tahir and Zohra, which is popular among Turkic-speaking people, has a special place in the legacy of Mullah Nefes. Mullah Nafes completely rebuilt and polished this saga, rewrote and wrote his poems. Seventy years after his death, Hocanefes Charriyev wrote a play to keep his soul alive. One of the most important features of the epos created by the author is that the poet is both a narrator and a hero of the epos. One of the noteworthy points is that the saga revives the traditions of Dada Gorgud. The epos was compiled by Ahliman Akhundov and Mahammadhuseyin Tahmasib in Azerbaijan, and MI Afzalov, H. Rasulov and Z. Huseynova in Uzbekistan. Poems are weak in all versions of the saga, except for Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan. The article compares the Azerbaijani and Turkmen versions of he saga and identifies its different and similar features.
