ABSTRACT
To see the changes in the meaning of words in historical development, it is necessary to pay attention to the lexical composition of materials and literary and artistic monuments of antiquity. Archaic words make up an interesting and ancient layer of vocabulary. These words, combining phonetic, grammatical, and sometimes at the same time lexical features of the language, are very valuable for our lexicon. In order to know the changes in words in historical development, it is necessary to correctly understand the examples of antiquity. In archa-isms, attention is drawn to the narrowing of meaning and the expansion of meaning, as can be seen from the examples.
