A new stage in the development of South Azerbaijan poetry

ABSTRACT  

The main illustration of South Azerbaijan poetry in 1941‒1946 is virtually reflected in collection made based on texts chosen from “Shairlar majlisi”. In the article, in the literature of South Azerbaijan of those yearsbeing a separate stage of vigorous development of native language poetry in South Azerbaijani literature, is examined in detailed form and according to principles specified by the author. In those years, the poetic examples published in the newspapers “Azerbaijan”, “Vatan yolunda”, in the collection “Shairlar majlisi” and other sources are grouped and analyzed according to their themes, and information about the literary figures of the period is also given. This period is called a new stage in the development of literature, and it is believed that the poetry of these years can also be called the poetry of struggle for national identity. Patriotism, service to the people, their actions and dreams, calling for freedom and independence were the main ideas of South Azerbaijani literature of these years.
