ABSTRACT
Reading is a unique tool that introduces the student to artistic and scientific-popular literature, as well as periodicals, a universal way to develop a child's cognitive, speech and creative abilities, a powerful tool that nurtures moral qualities and develops aesthetic feelings. Due to the change of times, the book is not considered as the main source of information in the organization of leisure time. Internet, television and social networks already compete with it. It is especially important for teachers to have skills and competencies in this direction in order to create interest in reading in children and to maintain this interest in them.
