ABSTRACT
The article talks about the meetings of M. A. Rasulzade, a well-known statesman of Azerbaijan, about his mother tongue. The views of a prominent social and political figure on the role and importance of the mother tongue in the existence and progress of the nation are revealed. His struggle for the protection and development of his mother tongue, teaching of his mother tongue in schools, establishment of spelling rules, common Turkish language and common alphabet are discussed. For this, the ideas of the founder of the first Republic in the Muslim East are referred to in his works.
