ABSTRACT
Proforms, which we call "pronouns", are very relevant from the point of view of compliance with certain features of the operative and smallest journalistic genre, as well as creating coherence as a means of grammatical cohesion within media news texts. However, endophoric proforms called anaphora and cataphora, depending on the position of the reference they replace, are not equally relevant in media news texts. This is due to the different characteristics of anaphora and cataphora. The aim of our article is to observe the positions of anaphora and cataphora in the media news discourse and examine their features as a means of coherency and their compatibility with the features of the news genre.
