ABSTRACT
The article examines Mirza Fatali Akhundzade's ideas of enlightenment. For this purpose, the artistic creativity of the writer becomes the main object of research. The poetic features of his poems are examined scientifically. A scientific attitude is expressed to the idea that the content and the decree are in unity in poetry. Interpreting prose works in terms of themes and ideas, he draws images into scientific analysis. In the study, M. F. Akhundov is highlighted as the creator of Azerbaijani drama and his services in the history and development of Azerbaijani literature are highly valued. Comedies are scientifically studied. The description of the feudal patriarchal deformities in the comedies of the period in which the writer lived, his critical attitude to them, the struggle of the old and the new, and the promotion of the ideas of enlightenment are investigated. The scientific attitude of the researcher to all these issues is reported. The author makes his opinions and considerations based on quotations, leaving space for polemics.
