ABSTRACT
The article "Strategic Importance of the
Language Factor in Heydar Aliyev's Cultural Policy" explores the pivotal
role that language played in Heydar Aliyev’s cultural policy. It highlights how
language, beyond being a tool for communication, was a crucial element in
preserving and promoting the national identity, culture, and history of
Azerbaijan. Under Heydar Aliyev’s leadership, language policy became a
cornerstone for strengthening the newly independent state of Azerbaijan and
safeguarding its cultural heritage. The article discusses key elements of
Heydar Aliyev's language policy, including the legal framework established for
language protection, the transition to the Latin alphabet, and efforts to
promote the Azerbaijani language internationally. His administration’s focus on
language in education, culture, and governance significantly contributed to the
recognition and protection of Azerbaijani language and culture both
domestically and abroad. The strategic importance of language within Heydar
Aliyev's cultural policy also facilitated the international promotion of
Azerbaijani identity. His initiatives have created a solid foundation for the
continued development and global recognition of the Azerbaijani language,
ensuring its protection and growth for future generations.
