ABSTRACT
One
of the main themes of Azerbaijani literature of the period of independence is
the issue of national character in works of art. One of the important elements
of national character is, of course, its response to the principle of
universality. Respect for national values is a human quality. Human identity
is genetic-national characteristics, genealogy. Nationality in national
character is an aesthetic category. It is known that by introducing national
character into a work of art, the writer first emphasizes historical-national
values. In literary criticism, nationality is also determined by national
attributes. The attributes that define national characters in Azerbaijani
literature are the national-ethnic affiliation of the pan-Turkic way of
thinking. And the value system included in that national-ethnic affiliation is:
ar, honor, chastity, respect, respect for women, attachment to kinship ties,
etc. The world and time change. What does not change are national-spiritual
values. The national mentality is the value system of the people, the nation.
The national value system included in the pan-Turkic national mentality - loyalty to the
family, protection of honor and zeal, adherence to customs and traditions,
pan-Turkic rules and regulations, and not exceeding the limits of the word,
etc. The value system is the highest and most important features that
characterize the Turkish man. Thus, the factors included in the “basic
identity” of the pan-Turkic national identity, that is, “national identity”,
are: family, religion, ancestry, national-spiritual values, that is, beliefs,
customs and traditions.
