ABSTRACT

The article discusses the current concerns of the independent Azerbaijani language, the threats and pressures it faces, and puts forward considerations on ways to eliminate language problems that concern society. The importance of the language article included in the Constitution in 1978 at the initiative of the national leader Heydar Aliyev in gaining the status of the state language of the Azerbaijani language is particularly emphasized. The article notes that the language of an independent state must also be independent. The Azerbaijani language should not become dependent on other languages, should not come under their influence. After separating from the Turkic language, our language has undergone an independent development path with its own phonetic system, lexical composition and original grammatical structure. However, as a result of the influence of Arabic, Persian, Russian and other languages throughout history, the Azerbaijani language has not been able to fully demonstrate its strength and will for a long time. Today, the Azerbaijani language is developing freely in conditions of independence. Despite the observation of certain interventions, our language continues to maintain its position. After gaining independence, the status and prestige of the Azerbaijani language have been significantly strengthened. Currently, our language is distinguished by its richness in both oral and written communication, and is used by a wide audience. Even in diplomatic missions operating in our country, the possibilities of the Azerbaijani language are widely used. However, some questions about the future of the Azerbaijani language still remain unanswered, and this causes justified concern in society. As a result of the preservation of the languages of ethnic groups living in our country during the period of independence, as well as the relations established by Azerbaijan with the peoples of the world in political, cultural, economic and other areas, the concepts of multiculturalism and multilingualism have expanded further.
