ABSTRACT
The article shows students how to form simple grammatical concepts through exercises in the first grade textbook “Azerbaijani language”. The exercises in the 1st grade textbook “Azerbaijani language” are designed to be understood by 6-7 year old students, and most of the illustrated exercises serve to develop children's logical thinking and to make them consciously understand what they are reading and learning. Here we also see how simple language rules are instilled in children through studies. Exercises were compiled on the basis of exam-ples taken from the given text and poems, and grammati-cal knowledge was used here for students to master in practice. In addition to sentence construction skills, speech development, and vocabulary enrichment in the textbook, we also witnessed how word formation, word combinations, words with the same root, nouns, gestures, signs, numbers, and sentence types according to purpose and intonation were instilled in children through simple exercises.
