The Culture of Dialogue in Ashug Poetry

ABSTRACT
Ashug poetry is one of the oldest genres of Azerbaijani literature. Its linguistic features are one of the most important elements reflecting its aesthetic value and the spirit of the people. Among these features, the culture of dialogue has a unique position. The language of ashug poetry is an im-portant source in revealing the multiple layers of meaning, cultural, philosophical and historical features of dialogue. From this point of view, the study of the culture of dialogue in the language of ashug poetry stands out as the main goal. During the research, it was concluded that language in poetry is not only a means of conveying meaning, but also a means of engaging the reader in conversation. The aesthetic qualities of poetic language strengthen the potential of dialogue. Ex-amples taken from ashug poetry confirm that the culture of dialogue in poetic language is a means of creating opportunities for interaction at the level of a transformative force. In short, dialogues have a special role in the description and celebration of human life experiences in ashug poems. Dialogues show the closeness of ashugs with each other and with listeners. Dialogue, which is one of the linguistic features of ashug poetry, is important in terms of reflecting Azerbaijani speech culture. The article provides a broad interpretation of the culture of dialogue based on examples from ashug poetry. The article can serve as a valuable basis for folklore research.
