ABSTRACT
The article discusses the role of poetry in the development and simplification of language. The issue of language simplification as one of the stages in the process of its change and improvement over time as a means of communication and a carrier of culture is brought to the fore. It is argued that poetry is a valuable resource in facilitating understanding as language becomes simpler and the use of words becomes clearer and more concise. In addition to being a means of increas-ing the expressiveness and emotional impact of poetry, its importance in the development and simplification of language is confirmed by factual materials. The fact that poetry conveys deep thoughts and feelings in short and meaningful words is evaluated as a natural result of the sim-plification of language.
