ABSTRACT
The article deals with the main role of literary
texts in the intellectual-spiritual development of elementary school students.
It should be noted that fiction has a great role in the formation of speech
culture and intellectual-spiritual development of the growing generation. In
addition to being a powerful educational tool, fiction is also the basis of
speech development. Fiction, which is of great importance in the formation of
moral habits, enthusiasm for hard work, knowledge and science, plays an
indispensable role in the development of speech as well. Therefore, the
richness of the literary speech of poets and writers is the source that
nourishes the speech development of young schoolchildren. The student enriches
his mind with new thoughts, ideas, concepts, imagination and images by reading
and studying literary works written in his mother tongue. Literary texts, on
the other hand, create a favorable opportunity to build a more efficient and
qualitative methodical work on speech development. Literary texts improve the
memory, thinking ability of elementary school students and develop cognitive
skills such as drawing conclusions from a certain event, summarizing,
generalizing , distinguishing, etc.
