ABSTRACT
Language
is a dynamic and evolving structure that reflects social, cultural and
technological changes within a society. Words, which are the basic units of
language, can undergo meaning changes over time due to various factors such as
cultural and technological advances and historical events. The article examines
the issue of semantic change, focusing on some words whose meanings have
changed throughout history. By analyzing such words, an understanding is
created about the reasons underlying semantic change and the effects of these
changes on language, communication and society. Words that change meaning in a
language, as one of the characteristics of the language, reflect its
development and diversity of thinking, showing how the language adapts to
social, cultural and scientific changes. Words that change meaning are words
that change over time, acquire new layers of meaning or express different
meanings in different contexts. It is known that language develops historically
and adapts to the communication needs of speakers. The meanings of words can
change due to social, cultural and historical influences, which leads to the
emergence of new meanings or the disappearance of old meanings. Such words
remaining in the composition of various texts, increase the effectiveness of
language as a means of communication. People convey their ideas through
language through various meanings and contexts, and words that sometimes change
in meaning play an important role in this process. This is because these words
can reflect the characteristics of a certain era, environment or society. It is
