ABSTRACT
As it is known, the concept of "multiculturalism" is a combination of two words: "multi" and "culture" (translated from Latin means very important). The presentation of multiculturalism as a social phenomenon shows that it emerged as a product of society at a certain stage of social development, as well as under the influence of certain events taking place in society. The next stage in the development of multicultu-ralism in society is its transformation into a way of life for nations. As a set of values that have been formed in Azerbaijan for centuries and do not go beyond the socio-artistic, psychological and moral level, it was quite unsystematic and spontaneous, especially during the reign of Soviet ideology. The systematization of multiculturalism as an integral part of the state policy in Azerbaijan and the mention of it in separate articles of our constitution are connected with the name of the national leader of our people Heydar Aliyev. Today, this policy is successfully pursued by President Ilham Aliyev.
